Our mission is to advocate for the increased supply of housing, especially affordable housing and below market rate units, and support our rent stabilization position, including housing displacement solutions, in the Los Altos – Mountain View area.

We monitor new condo and apartment developments to support inclusionary housing, the addition and maintenance of below market rate units, and zoning changes that encourage housing development, such as rezoning commercial to residential or mixed- use where appropriate. We advocate for funding affordable housing, including commercial and other impact fees, and sometimes review the relationships between land use, transportation and housing budgets.

In addition, we work locally to promote our League’s position on housing and rent stabilization. We keep track of state legislation that will impact local housing regulations and survey local ordinances and policies to ensure they are consistent with state law and LWVC and LWVUS positions.

Our task includes study, committee meetings, writing action letters to the city council, to commissions, and speaking at council and commission meetings.
