Co-directed by long-time members, Sue Russell (photo) and Donna Yobs, the team monitors new condo and apartment developments in the Los Altos – Mountain View Area to insure Below Market Rate (BMR) housing units are included. The group advocates for increasing the supply of affordable housing for the economically disadvantaged, families, and seniors.

Our Letters archive – sent to the city councils
Our chapter’s Affordable Housing Committee regular meeting is the second Monday of the month. The committee works locally in Mountain View and Los Altos to promote tenant relocation assistance, more Below Market Rate units and other city zoning and commercial development policies that increase affordable housing.
Current Areas of Work
Current topics of discussion are the new City of Los Altos and City of Mountain View draft “Housing Elements.”
The LWV supports Plan Bay Area, a regional plan for in-fill development, reducing sprawl and distances travelled by coordinating workplaces, housing and transportation so they will be located nearer each other.
Here is a printable 2014 draft version of a Glossary of Housing Development Terms useful for a look at the various laws, ordinances and policies that apply in Los Altos and Mountain. This committee often speaks in the city council meeting public comment periods. Here are the latest public comment letters sent to the city councils.
