Bay Area League Day: Housing and the Bay Area's Future, February 4, 2012

The keynote speaker will be DAVID ROSEN, a leading expert in the field of affordable housing finance, policy, land use, lending and investment strategic planning. There will be panels of experts on 1) meeting regional housing needs in light of the sustainable communities' strategy, 2) difficulties of financing affordable housing, and 3) how to serve the hardest to house. There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience during each panel.

National Privatization Study Shifts into High Gear

This winter Leagues across the Country will study the privatization of government services to develop a national privatization policy on the topic for consideration at the National Conference in June 2012.

The Role of the Federal Government in Education: A League of Women Voters study

Our local League participated in the national study on The Role of the Federal Government in Education.

The final meeting was held on October 15. The consensus answers reached at the meetings are now available.

Citizens Redistricting Commission Releases Final Maps

The Citizens Redistricting Commission issued a press release regarding the California Supreme Court's summary dismissal of two lawsuits challenging the Congressional and State Senate maps. LWVC urges members to decline to sign referendum petitions being circulated to overturn these maps.
